Lawrence Golan was born in Chicago in 1966. Son of Joseph Golan, the longtime Principal 2nd Violinist of the Chicago Symphony Orchestra, Lawrence began his career as a violinist. He eventually transitioned into conducting and has spent the bulk of his career as a Music Director in the United States and guest conducting orchestras both domestically and abroad. Some of the posts he has held include Music Director and Conductor of the Denver Philharmonic Orchestra, the Yakima Symphony Orchestra, the York Symphony Orchestra and the Lamont Symphony Orchestra and Opera Theatre at the University of Denver, where he is Professor of Music, Director of Orchestral Studies, and head of the graduate conducting program.
