PROGRAM NOTE
Musings, for two violins, is designed as a series of short movements inspired by the 44 Duos for Two Violins by Béla Bartók — a piece we violinists tend to revisit throughout life because of its nimble nature and programmatic effect.
I also wanted to pay homage to some of my favorite composers of string music so that each movement is inspired by a different composer: J.S. Bach, Paul Hindemith, Antonio Vivaldi, Darius Milhaud, and references to my own Duo for Violin and Cello throughout. Each movement is like a passing whim, although distinct in character.
