MusAnalysis is a font that allows the user to input Roman numerals, inversion numbers, voice leading lines, functional analysis symbols, and lines directly into a music notation program (or other software), using either lyric or text entry. It’s designed with careful attention to spacing and stroke weight to make it highly legible at small sizes (8–14 points).
MusAnalysis is not intended for chord symbols, as that’s a whole other world of symbols and formats. It has basic chord functionality, but it’s intended primarily for Roman numeral analysis.
MusAnalysis works in any word processor, music notation program or other software that supports ligatures and kerning. Make sure these features are turned on for the glyphs to display correctly.

MusAnalysis DoricoUsing MusAnalysis in Pages (Apple)
If MusAnalysis doesn’t appear in your font list, please follow these instructions:
- With Pages open, from the menu bar, choose Format > Font > Show Fonts
- Choose MusAnalysis from the Family column
- You’ll find that MusAnalysis will now be accessible in the dropdown menu in the right panel, even when you close the Fonts window
MusAnalysis will appear in the document where you used it. When you save the document and reopen it, it will still be there. But you will have to repeat the process to find this font in other documents. Unfortunately this is a limitation with certain fonts and Apple Pages and other Apple programs.

I use this frequently. It’s quite flexible, yet for most analyses it’s intuitive, fast and looks beautiful.
