Music rental license

USE AND PURPOSE.  The rented material is to be used for performance only for the quantity of performances you have paid for. You may obtain additional rental licenses at any time subject to payment of the rental fee. The fees charged do not include the right to stage or choreograph the Work.  The materials may not be used for broadcast, recording, transcription, synchronization or any other use whatsoever without a written license from Agent.

SYNCHRONIZATION (VIDEO STREAMING) IS NOT PERMITTED UNLESS YOU HAVE ACQUIRED A SYNCHRONIZATION LICENSE.

MODIFICATION. Licensee may modify the Work with respect to duration or by modifying the instrumentation forces to accommodate the available players. Licensee shall not have the right to otherwise modify, edit, or alter the Work.

PERFORMING LICENSE.   Fees quoted do not include performance fees.  It is your responsibility to obtain any necessary performance licenses, such as from ASCAP.  PUBLIC PERFORMANCE WITHOUT A LICENSE IS AN INFRINGEMENT OF COPYRIGHT, even if rental fees have been paid.

PROPERTY.   The performance materials (score and parts in PDF format), which are acquired separately from this rental license, may not be sold, loaned or otherwise transferred to any other party. The materials are always the property of the copyright holder and are loaned to you electronically to facilitate your use.

REPRODUCTIONS AND ARRANGEMENTS.   No portion of the materials you acquire may be copied or reproduced in any form without the written permission of Agent.  No arrangements, transcriptions or alterations of this Work may be made without the written permission of the Agent.

CANCELLATION.   In the event that you do not perform the Work, no refunds will be given.

Synchronization license

USE AND PURPOSE.  You, the Licensee, are hereby granted the non-exclusive right and license to make one (1) video recording of the use the work and use this one recording in synchronization with, and to distribute it on in a streaming manner via the internet, your web site and social media platforms. All rights to the Work other than those specifically granted herein are reserved by Licensor.  By way of illustration but not limitation, Licensee shall not have the right to make multiple recordings of the Work; Licensee may not sell or use the Work separately; and Licensee shall not have the right to edit, alter or otherwise modify the Work except as otherwise provided for in the music rental license.

AUDIO FILES. Included with this license is permission to use any or all of the audio files obtained at the time of acquiring this license, such as the click track or backing track, only for the express purpose of facilitating the above stated use and purpose.

PERFORMANCE MATERIALS.   Permission to use the performance materials (score and parts in PDF format) must be obtained separately via a music rental license, upon payment of an additional fee. USE IS NOT PERMITTED UNLESS YOU HAVE ACQUIRED A RENTAL LICENSE.

FAQs

What do I need to purchase to perform Baby Shark for orchestra?

Everyone needs a music rental. This is the right to use the music to Baby Shark in one performance, whether it’s live or online. Select the number of licenses corresponding to the number of performances, and also the student or professional/advanced version, depending upon which version you will perform.

You also need the score and parts — the sheet music. This is available for a one-time fee as PDFs. You won’t technically own the music; think of it as a “permanent loan”. It will be accessible from your account on Notation Central and automatically stamped with your name and account details. You only need to obtain this once. You are permitted to print copies for your own use. Anytime you wish to perform from the materials, you need to obtain a rental license, and you cannot access the materials without obtaining at least one rental license.

If you want to make a video recording and stream it online or on social media, you need a synchronization license — so-called because you are “synchronizing” the video to audio. This is in addition to the rental license and the sheet music.

Do I need to negotiate any of these licenses with you?

No. Simply add them to your cart and check out. The terms are found in the Licenses tab and a copy is included with your purchase.

If I want to make a video recording, how do I synchronize it?

Included with the synchronization license are three audio files: a click track; a click track with the orchestral backing mixed down; and a full orchestral backing mix. You can sync the audio using the click track using any method you like and you are free to mix the orchestral recording into your recording.

So do I need to have all the players to perform or to make a video recording of Baby Shark?

No. You can perform it with any subset of the players you have available. In our demo video we had six players, one from each section. But you can do whatever you like!

Does a synchronization license allow me to make multiple video recordings?

No. It allows you to make one video recording which you can share (but not sell) online. If you want to make another recording, obtain another synchronization license and another rental license.

OK, I got it. But I want to make sure. I want to perform Baby Shark twice and video record one performance, and share my performance online. What should I obtain?

Can I transfer any of the licenses?

No, the licenses are non-transferable.

Can I send the score and parts to another orchestra to use?

No. They remain our property and can only be used by the licensee who is an authorized representative of the orchestra or ensemble performing Baby Shark for orchestra. We allow you to retain the PDFs for convenience, and even print copies for your own use, but only to facilitate your own performance. Please advise the other orchestra to obtain their own set. Baby Shark gotta eat!
